Education and Preparation
A personalized, comprehensive childbirth education curriculum
Breathing Birth CBE
Birth is a normal, powerful life event that should be guided by the birthing couple and supported by best practices and evidence-based research. When couples receive thorough education, plus mental and emotional preparation, they are more likely to experience confident, positive outcomes.
What we teach
Pregnancy anatomy & physiology: clear, accessible explanations of how the pregnant body changes, why those changes happen, and what to expect each trimester.
Nutrition & movement: practical guidance on eating and activity patterns that support the healthiest pregnancy possible, tailored to individual needs and goals.
The birth process: an evidence-based overview of labor stages, common interventions, and routine clinical and diagnostic options offered by medical providers—so you can make informed decisions.
Personalized birth toolkit: a customized plan couples can use during labor that outlines physical comfort measures, emotional supports, communication strategies, and decision-making preferences to promote the birth experience you want.
Transition to home: realistic expectations and practical guidance for maternal recovery, newborn care, and family adjustment during the postpartum period.
Why this matters
Education reduces fear, builds trust in your body and your care team, and empowers you to advocate for yourself. Adding mental and emotional preparation—coping strategies, partner roles, and confidence-building practices—creates resilience that benefits birthing people, partners, and newborns.
Our approach
We combine trustworthy medical evidence with compassionate, individualized support. Classes are interactive and practical, designed to leave each couple with knowledge, tools, and a clear, adaptable plan so they enter birth and postpartum with confidence and calm.
If you’d like, we can tailor a curriculum to your pregnancy, birth preferences, and family needs so your birth experience is informed, supported, and aligned with your goals.
What to expect
Breathing Birth Childbirth Education curriculum is a private class for you and your partner scheduled at your convenience. It can be a weekend intensive or covered over a 6-week period. There is a lot of information to cover and can often be overwhelming to process in a single setting. We encourage you to space it out to provide time to process, practice, and come back with questions. We understand that is not possible for all families and we are happy to accommodate an intensive session if that fits your needs better. This curriculum is evidence-based and presented as an unbiased perspective. The information can be tailored to any birth you are planning, however; as we believe birth is often like a card hand, we include all information that might be necessary to the labor unknowns that may arise to ensure you are fully informed and prepared.
